The Red Dust and Paddy Melons Gallery
The Red Dust and Paddy Melons Gallery on High street showcases the paintings, sculptures and craft work of the Hillston Creative Arts Council (HCAC). Much of it has been inspired by the unique flora, fauna and scenery of the area. The Gallery functions also as a level three accredited visitor’s centre, and provides information on Hillston and the surrounding district.


Lachlan River Walking Trail/Swing Bridge
The entrance to the Lachlan River Walking Trail is from the Hughie Cameron Park. Cross the Swing Bridge and take a stroll on the 1.2km riverside walking trail in the Desatholon Park Reserve.


Emu Statues in Hughie Cameron Park
The Hughie Cameron Park is home to ‘Emu Antics’, 3 brightly decorated emu’s welcoming visitors to the Lachlan River Walking Trail.


Hillston Library
W.G. Parker Memorial Library Complex is located on the corner of High and McGee Streets. The current library complex was opened in 2005. The Library hosts a youth room, computer room, children’s play area, public toilets and the main library. Wi-Fi access is available.
Hillston Heritage Trail
Follow the heritage markers along High Street and learn of Hillston’s colourful and exciting history, including several heritage buildings and a war memorial.

Street Murals
A large sepia mural can be found on the side wall of Rose’s IGA Supermarket which depicts the streetscape of Hillston in the late 1800s. The Hillston and District Map Shelter, painted by the late Mrs. Beryl Robertson, is located on the lawns in front of the Ex-Servicemen’s Club.


Hillston Golf Club
Hillston Golf Club is located on the Mossgiel Road in close proximity to the Lachlan River and hosts an 18-hole sand-green golf course.


Willandra National Park
Willandra National Park is located 74kms northwest of Hillston. The Park offers walking tracks, including the Nilla Yannagalong Billana walking track as well as picnic areas, camping grounds and cycling tracks. Willandra National Park is also a home for historical Willandra Homestead, Ram Shed and Woolshed.


Fishing Lachlan River
There are reserves allowing fishing and camping along the Lachlan River.
